Hello and welcome to KB! We are so excited to partner with you in your child's learning adventures and we look forward to working together to make your child's Kindergarten Journey a positive one.
Ms. Sue Ferren (Teacher) I have been teaching for 11 years with the TrilliumLakelands District School Board and taught many years before that in a variety of Outdoor Education Centres and programs. I have been teaching Full Day Kindergarten for 5 years and love the emphasis on "play-based" and "inquiry based" learning. I have a degree in Outdoor and Experiential Education from Queen's University and am currently training to become a certified Forest School Practitioner through Forest School Canada. I am passionate about playing outside and believe strongly that the outdoors provides many benefits for all of us! I have spent many years coaching, training, racing, guiding, and recreating in the outdoors which brought me to the Haliburton Highlands area. I have traveled to different parts of the world to enjoy mountains, rivers, trails, and lakes. I love teaching and am passionate about helping early learners use their innate curiosity to connect with nature and develop a love of learning. In my spare time I enjoy snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, cycling, running, paddling, reading, yoga, traveling, and relaxing with my wonderful husband and my beautiful family of boys (ages 5, 12, 15).

Ms. Robin Hewitt (DECE) My career started in 2005
when I graduated from Early Childhood Education. I began teaching at the
Children’s Learning Centre in various roles until I was hired at Archie
Stouffer in 2011. I started my partnership with Sue Ferren and we having been
co-teaching ever since. I have a
family of five; my husband, Brandon, two boys; Zander 9, and Vanek 4, and our
daughter Tenley, 2. We have lived in the community of Minden Hills all of our
lives and have grown to love the rural area. Together, we enjoy hiking,
fishing, boating, walking, biking, gardening, swimming, downhill skiing, snowshoeing
and basically anything that involves being outdoors throughout the four
seasons. My love for children and early learning started when I was a young child
able to take care of my siblings. It grew when I babysat for families within
the community, and led to me taking my Early Childhood Education course in college. I continue to
expand my learning through online courses and workshops and feel as Early
Learners develop and change, so too will my learning curve to assist in teaching them.
