After days of searching for a safe place, digging our pit, gathering and sorting wood, building our boundaries, discussing safety, and creating a menu, we finally had our campfire!
Based on the student's menu choice, we enjoyed hotdogs and s'mores and hot chocolate which we carried to the site in a giant thermos. We brought our reusable plates and cups and set up a hand washing station, an eating area, and a food gathering station.
During our planning process, the students decided they wanted to sing songs and tell stories so O. brought her guitar and we shared stories of camping and campfire experiences and the foods we've cooked over a fire.
They students decided that next time, they want to make pancakes with some of our homemade maple syrup that we are currently tapping from the trees.
